After many years of neglect, lymphedema patients now have renewed hope for the future.
 
Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapy (MLDT) redirects lymphatic fluid from the damaged or removed lymph nodes to the intact lymph node chains on an unaffected extremity. This method of therapy is delivered through a light dermal massage. The stimulation of the lymphatics allows the fluid to be reabsorbed by the venous system and eliminated through the kidneys.
 
MLD therapy must be delivered over a series of consecutive treatments. The number of treatments will vary by patient. The minimum number of treatments may be as few as 5 and as many as 25 - 30. 
 
Depending on the stage of lymphedema and after an evaluation of the symptoms, several treatment plans may be offered.
